Becoming Involved with the HPEC Provincial Executive
The HPEC executive is a dynamic group of passionate individuals that work to promote quality Health and Physical Education programs in Alberta and to support educators in this aim.
HPEC members interested in HPEC Officer or Executive positions may apply for these positions up to two weeks prior to the position term commencement date. HPEC Officer and Executive position terms commence at the HPEC Annual General Meeting. All HPEC Officer and Executive positions consist of two-year terms of service, commencing on either odd or even years. HPEC members may also apply to HPEC positions that have been vacated during a term of service. Further details regarding HPEC Officer and Executive positions can be found on this page.
Vacant HPEC Officer and Executive Positions
All HPEC Officer and Executive positions shall follow the terms stated in the HPEC Handbook and detailed below. In the case of a vacated HPEC officer or executive position, an HPEC member may be appointed to serve the remainder of the set term for the vacated position.

HPEC Officer Positions
HPEC Officers consist of the elected members of the HPEC executive, with the exception of the HPEC treasurer position, which is appointed. HPEC Officer positions consist of two-year terms, AGM to AGM, with the exception of President-Elect which is a 4-year term, AGM to AGM (1 year as President-Elect proceeded by 2 years as President preceded by 1 year as Past President).

HPEC Conference Co-Chairs are appointed for the duration of planning, delivery and conclusion of the conference business. Typically 2 years prior to the chaired conference to the first HPEC Executive meeting after the chaired Conference where the final Conference Report is presented to HPEC.
Applying for HPEC Officer and Executive Positions
HPEC members may apply for HPEC elected and appointed positions by submitting an Executive Member Nomination Form.
The duties of HPEC Officers and Executives are outlined in Part D of the HPEC Handbook. Please review these duties prior to submitting an application for an HPEC Executive Position.
**Please note, an important duty of HPEC Executive Members is to be in attendance at all HPEC Executive Meetings. These meetings are traditionally scheduled in September (Friday - Sunday), January (Friday - Saturday) and May (AGM during the annual conference). HPEC Officer positions have additional HPEC Table Officer meetings prior to these executive meetings, and 1-2 stand-alone one-day meetings in the year (traditionally November/December and March)
HPEC Officer Positions Application Deadline and Procedures
Completed Executive Member Nomination Forms for positions up for election or appointment at the Annual General Meeting (odd or even year) shall be received by HPEC at least two weeks prior to the Annual General Meeting. In the event that there is more than one nomination for a position, then a ballot will be prepared and distributed at the Annual General Meeting. If there are vacancies in the slate of officers and no nominations have been received at the time of the AGM, nominations will be accepted from the floor for the vacant positions only.
HPEC Executive Position Application Deadline and Procedures.

Conference Chair Application Deadline and Procedures.
The annual HPEC conference rotates around the province to provide accessibility to all HPEC members. If you are interested in hosting an HPEC Conference the first step is to contact the HPEC President, president@hpec.ab.ca to determine when in the rotation your location may best fit. After this, in coordination with the HPEC Conference Liaison, a proposal to host and chair a conference may be submitted to HPEC. Details regarding HPEC conferences may be found in Part C, Section 7.0 of the HPEC Handbook.
